There are two parts
in this title which has been obviously seen. The first part “Back to basics” is
the series sermon title of a pastor of the church where we are attending now in
New York. First part of “Back to basics”
sermon was based on Psalm 23 and the focus point is “The Lord is my shepherd”. “ It is the first verse of Psalm23 as well as the basics of this scripture and
our lives”; the Pastor preached. Week
after week God speaks to us through Holy Spirit.
After these series, God reminded me to recall the beginning
of my family life. Married life and family life are different. Married life
depicts a couple and family life depicts a couple with children.
Recall old memories -- My
family life of first assignment in Geneva
My husband was posted in Geneva as third secretary in
Myanmar mission. We moved there with two
kids. At that time, Swiss Franc was
strong and we got our salary with US $.
Therefore we had to struggle in Geneva, not only my family but also all
the families of Myanmar Mission. It was middle of 1980s.
Switzerland was the most beautiful country as well as one of the most
expensive countries at that time. Myanmar became Least Developed Country during
that time. Swiss currency was very
strong.
In these situations, first assignment of newly diplomat family
life had to struggle. Before long, we had
to send our children to school. We
faced financial problem. At that time I
was a Buddhist.
God loves all
One day I read a story about two fishes and five loaves of
bread in the Bible. Jesus fed five thousand people with two fishes and five loaves
of bread. How great is the love of Jesus
for people. I started to pray for my
children’s education because I believed that He who fed five thousand people
with only two fishes and five loaves of bread could help me. I did not know how to pray to Christ but I
prayed. “Jesus help me. I would like to
send my children to school. If I could
not send them to school, I would have to go back to my country where my
children could start school. But I wanted to stay in Geneva for my children to
feed them some milk of Switzerland.” (Every
child under 5 years needs protein to develop brain. Basic education is
important for every child to obtain firm foundation for future. ) That was my very first prayer to
Christ when I was a Buddhist. God hears
my cry. Our Government allowed to change the salary of Myanmar Mission from US
$ to Swiss franc. Jesus is great. God
hears our prayers when we call His son Jesus.
What a great taste of Swiss milk!
Before leaving to Switzerland, my dad asked me to feed his grandchildren
Swiss milk. He also told me a legend of Switzerland that he heard when he was
there as one of Myanmar delegation visiting Switzerland.
“Once upon a time, Jesus was traveling around. When he arrived Switzerland, he was
tired. He asked some water to drink. A
Swiss guy gave Him some water and also gave Him some milk. Afterwards, Jesus took a rest at his fields. Jesus satisfied the taste of the milk. Jesus
allowed him to ask 3 things for his life as a reward for the milk. Firstly, the Swiss requested mountains for plain fields where he breeds cows.
When he saw mountains, he thought mountains need snow. Then he requested snow. Nowadays,
there are the most beautiful mountains
covered with snow in Switzerland. Then
Jesus told him He had to leave and allowed him to request last one. Then the Swiss guy asked for a price of a cup
of milk. Jesus granted it. Therefore Swiss Bank was appeared as the price of a
cup of milk from Jesus.”
Jesus loves us. He hears us because he lives.
Past is a history for human.
Past is full of testimony for the love of God through his
son Jesus our savior.
Present is to work for living in human life.
Present is to obey His will to glorify His Kingdom.
Future is not always assured for human.
Future is hope for the promise of God to fulfill in our
lives on earth and beyond the life after dead. God promises will be fulfilled in our present lives when we believe and obey Him.
(Aims = (1)Give thanks to Jesus who hears my cry for
children basic education and for today good jobs . Give thanks to God who hears
my thanksgiving praises of my heart on my children’s birthdays.
(2) To share that Jesus hears our prayers, your prayer whatever
your religions is. Because Jesus loves
you and He is living.)
