Unforgettable
Mother’s Day
May 8 was Mother’s
Day of year 2016. In Myanmar, some
churches used to pin a flower on the chest of worshipers who came to the
church on Mother’s Day. The red rose depicts
that a person who got it has living mother. The white rose depicts
his or her mother is passed away.
Therefore, we knew each other whose mother was still alive or passed
away through the color of roses that we got on Mother’s Day .
I was happy
when I got the red rose from the church where I belong to, on the Mother’s Day. I gave that rose to my mom in honor of her motherhood. She was very glad
receiving the red rose to honor her life. It used to be like a habit between us.
In year 2003,
there was a white rose waiting at the church door to replace the red rose onto
my chest on Mother’s Day. Whilst the
white rose was replacing on my chest, my eyes and my heart filled with tears. There
were my two kids and their father,my beloved husband beside me to celebrate Mother’s Day with me
at the church and, after the church service. Therefore, my tears did not come out on my
face. I did not let them see tears on my face because I did not want to disturb their happiness for me. I
would like to give them happiness as the gift of Mother’s Day from me.
At the same
time in my heart, tears were testimony of my love for my mom which cannot be seen but only
God sees. As a line in a famous gospel song,
“ Tears are a language God understand.”
“ Tears are a language God understand.”
On that day, when I
arrived home there was a vessel on the table of my mom waiting to accept the
white rose on behalf of her. That was 11th May in 2003, unforgettable Mother's day in my life.
(These are some
parts of sharing words of mine on Mother’s Day
at Chin Christian Fellowship in New York. )
Aim: To share some mother's Day celebration in Myanmar and the feeling on Mother's Day of motherhood .
