Every country exists under the blue sky that was made by God. Sometimes we have clear sky, sometimes we have cloudy and scorching sun. Sometimes we have cold breeze and nice weather.
Likewise, human life can be full of struggle or a fair life. I would like to share the days with cloud in my life time in Australia. We had been there for assignment as diplomat from Myanmar. It was from 1996 to late 1999. At that time, the political dark cloud covered upon Myanmar people .
Friendship lunch makes us getting to know each other and build closer relationship. Sometimes it works differently.
One day, our embassy members were invited by an acquaintance. We went there and I saw a friend at other table. In the garden, there were two - three green color sunroofs over the tables and chairs. I went to my friend to greet her. When I arrived her table, she was worried for me and said;
" Why do you come here? we are under different roof."
I answered her, " They are all green roofs. What do you mean? "
She explained our situation was different in political point of view. Therefore we were under different roof.The cloud covered over us was dark under the green roofs at that moment, but I know that the real sky over the dark cloud is always blue. It was sunny but we did not feel sunshine on that day.
Some people knew how to fight for democracy in a proper way but some did not . Some people understand the duty and responsibilities of diplomat and some don't. Some thought that diplomats are people who sit on the fence. In my opinion, diplomats are like a stream. A stream flows between two banks which grounds are wet or dry , swampy or sandy, high or low. The nature of stream water is running which is different from wells and ponds. Diplomats move over time to time from country to country like a flowing stream.
Flowing streams are always clean and giving effectiveness along the way.
Some use for drinking, some use for cleaning. Some preserve the stream, some contaminate it.
Wherever we go we must be careful from physical or verbal attack when the political cloud are gray.
One weekend, we went to a grocery store. I wore longyi, my national dress . Longyi is like long skirts . We spoke our mother tongue. One man from our country introduced himself to help us because he had never seen us among Burmese community there. We said thank you to him and we came back to our car. We did not introduce ourselves because of the situation at that time.
We felt so sad that we were not able to respond his hospitality of Myanmar culture. It was quiet in the car, my husband was not able to start the car. Therefore, I wanted to change that quiet situation and I turned on the car radio. We heard a myanmar song named Blue sky (ေကာင္းကင္ျပာ) on SBS radio myanmar program. It was written about a young lover's love but it made us feels as our country situation. Tears were flowing quietly in our hearts on our way back home.
The sky is always blue. However, our lives on earth are covered sometimes by dark, gray and pink cloud (at sun set). And sometimes we see clear blue sky. In the car,we prayed and said that the sun will shine over Myanmar and we hope one day we will see the blue sky together with our people.
Clear blue sky and the days with cloud in my life ' may not differ from you.
Our hope is not different. Every one wants peace, justice and equality .
To see the blue sky needs to remove the cloud in proper way.
